Please note:

  • A vignette is required for Austrian expressways and highways
  • In winter, winter tires are mandatory from November 1 to April 15! All-season tires are not sufficient.
  • In St. Lambrecht and around the Grebenzen valley station parking lot, snow chains are generally not needed. However, depending on your route, you might need them during your journey

With public transport
The nearest train station, Mariahof-St. Lambrecht, is only 8 km from the valley station.

  • From Villach: 2 hrs 01 min
  • From Graz: 2 hrs 11 min
  • St. Johann im Pongau 3 h 35 min
  • From Maribor: 4 hrs 01 min

  • No littering in the mountains! Please take your waste back down with you and dispose of it in designated bins.

  • Starting in winter 2025/26, you’ll also be able to buy your tickets via smartphone and simply scan the code at the turnstile for entry!

Gondola Breakfast & Gondola Dinner

Gondelfrühstück und Gondeldinner sind besondere Erlebnisse im Sommer, die wir nur an ausgewählten Terminen und bei rechtzeitiger Anmeldung anbieten. Ist starker Wind oder gar ein Gewitter angekündigt, werden die Veranstaltungen abgesagt und die Anmeldegebühren erstattet – wir melden uns dann bei euch. Bei Regen finden die Veranstaltungen statt.

Stroller Access

You can roll your stroller barrier-free into the gondola. In summer, you can take your stroller on a walk around the Grebenzenhaus and visit the photo points.

 

Wheelchair Accessibility

You can use the gondola barrier-free with a wheelchair.

With a wheelchair, you can also reach:

In Summer:

  • the public restroom at the valley station
  • the Grebenzenhaus near the mountain station (note: no wheelchair-accessible restroom!)

In Winter:

  • the public restroom at the valley station
  • the Grebenzenblick restaurant with terrace at the valley station
  • the Grebenzenhaus near the mountain station, provided the slope is firm enough for your wheelchair (note: no wheelchair-accessible restroom!)

Dogs

Bringt eure Vierbeiner gern mit auf die GrebenzenHöhen!

  • You can find the prices for dog tickets under Information & Tickets.
  • If you plan to stop at a hut, please check with the hosts whether your dog is allowed inside.
  • Please follow the legal requirements regarding leashes and muzzles.
  • Be especially mindful on the alpine pastures and meadows around the Grebenzenhaus, where cattle graze in summer. helpful tips and rules of conduct..

Driving to the Grebenzenhaus by Car in Summer

On days when the gondola is operating, the Grebenzen road is closed. This means access to the Grebenzenhaus is only possible via the panoramic cable car.

Safety on the Slopes – The FIS Rules

  1. Respect for other skiers
    Every skier must behave in a way that does not endanger or harm others.
  2. Control of speed and skiing technique
    Every skier must ski within sight. They must adjust their speed and skiing technique to their ability and the terrain, snow, and weather conditions, as well as the density of traffic.
  3. Choice of route
    A skier approaching from behind must choose their route in a way that does not endanger skiers in front of them.
  4. Overtaking
    Overtaking is allowed from above or below, from the right or left, but always with a distance that allows the overtaken skier enough space for all their movements.
  5. Entry and starting
    Every skier entering a ski slope or starting after stopping must ensure, by looking up and down, that they can do so without danger to themselves and others.
  6. Stopping
    Every skier must avoid unnecessarily stopping in narrow or unclear places on a descent. A fallen skier must clear such a spot as quickly as possible.
  7. Ascent and descent
    A skier ascending or descending on foot must use the edge of the slope.
  8. Observance of signs
    Every skier must observe markings and signals.
  9. Assistance
    In case of accidents, every skier is obligated to provide assistance.
  10. Obligation to identify
    Every skier, whether a witness or a participant, whether responsible or not, must provide their personal details in case of an accident.
